Probably the first time it's ever been done for a noble cause. I guess I'll play along if everyone's for it.
And Mark, thanks for putting up the post. You've gotta be feeling some pain right now. You are a man of honor, and I mean it. Then again, Harden decides to put up another 79 fp's and you may be right back in this thing.
Invaders surrender to Swat Team it's 243-118 KAT vs. Kanter and Harden...ETeam will meet Swat in the final it's 246-182 assuming Collins sits again Oubre's sub 30 would make the final 246-212....NIT Nitecaps 112 Ticket 55 Mudiay vs. George dnp 2nd chance plus Rockets Paul and Capela....P4 178 Alt/Delete 147 Whiteside and Klay dnp but Sam has Love 2nd chance
I actually thought that the Invader-Swat Match 2 might come down to a Harden-KAT showdown on Sunday, with Mark owning the last guy in the NBA who could possibly, single-handedly erase a, say, 50-point deficit.
That didn't happen. A suddenly weakened Invader squad: No Wall. No Embiid. Injuries on the bench. Routine outputs from others. But none of it even mattered anyway against a Swat Team that is absolutely running wild. A rookie puts up a 75 in four overtimes. A 58 from another guy. And he's not done! On Sunday, Sean has a legitimate chance to do something nobody has done in our 23-year history: reach the 300 mark. He's sitting at 244 and has Karl-Anthony Towns at the Wiz. Wanna know what KAT has done in his last three games? I'm not making this up: 63/60/62. Seriously?
Either way, the No. 4 Seed Swat has advanced. Pretty simple. We're looking at the greatest regular season ever against the dictionary definition of getting hot at the right time. Wow.
And, unless Wingo's 2nd-chance John Collins gets off the couch ready to go 60-plus, the E Team will meet Swat in the finals. Yes, that E Team. The one that suddenly looks like an underdog despite having gone 240-plus in SIX consecutive matches. Wow again.
Big congrats to Mark on a historic season and props to the defending champion Wingman.
(And hey, for what it's worth, I think I'll be over at Katie O'Brien"s watching the Blazer matinee at 10:00 Sunday morning if anybody's in the neighborhood. Pop by. I'll buy you a Bloody Mary.)
Sorry to miss you Eric, hit Mt. Hood Meadows for 17 runs on a Bluebird day.
Congratulations Mark on an amazing season, and Chris, nice run to the playoffs. Looking forward to locking horns with an original league Mastodon, ETeam, in the championship round!
Hey Mark, I've got Swat at 244, not 243: Dame 38, DMitch 58, Vuce 41, Trae 75, BojBog 32. It could come into play in Sean of Sparta's quest for 300. KAT has 29 at halftime; Swat is sitting on 272 right now. Can he pull it off?
Sam's Love is back in action and has pulled him to with 15 fp's of P4 with a half to play. The coveted 7th place ribbon is on the line.
And I hear Paul George is out for tonight, so the Nitecaps will go up 1-0 in the NIT final, thanks to, or rather, despite the XMan's innovative team management.
No way. Kevin Love hits three meaningless free throws in the final couple minutes and the rookie Alt-Delete, according my accounting, defeats P4 179-178 for 7th place.
Well done, Sam.
And Hans, honestly, stop by the old blog sometime and say hello. Just so we'll know you're still around.
Dang. Wiz turns it into a blowout late. KAT leaves at the 2-minute mark. Swat "stalls" at 291.
I believe we had a 290 one time before. Like I told Sean, JRB years ago with a gigantic number from the great Chris Webber. I'll see if I can find it in the archives, which I am currently researching for the purpose of resolving the money thing.
In any case, Sean's closeout here is obviously historic. Not 300, but if my guess is correct, the highest one-match score in our 23-year existences as a league.
Let's hear it for Dave clearing his bench in Tom's last fantasy contest!!!!!!!!!!!
