Bradley Beal, 4-21 from the field. Ouch. I take back my proposed trade.
And hey, let it be known that today is the birthday of my favorite athlete of all time, my boyhood idol, '64 NL Rookie of the Year, '73 AL MVP, a guy who - if he'd had the same number of at bats - would've been Reggie Jackson with a batting average 25 points higher and way less of an arrogant douchebag, the greatest player not in the baseball Hall of Fame.
Oops. Dick Allen was AL MVP in '72, not '73. What was I thinking?
A year earlier, Allen's Dodgers had lost the NL West by one game. They had a chance to tie on the last day of the season when the rival Giants were beaten by what Astros rookie? (They failed when fucking Doyle Alexander was beaten by the lowly Padres. I hated that guy forever after that.)
I saw Allen's last season in Oakland he wore Wampum for his name rather than Allen and the number 60 for his high school and graduation year. He was released by the A's when he was found showering before the end of a game he had pulled from

Hey Mark: Can the Blazers trade McCollum, Kanter and Mo Harkless to the Wizards for Bradley Beal?

Happy 77th, Dick Allen.
I think Sean and I are the only ones still paying attention. Hey, that's cool. I understand. We'll just text one another.
ReplyDeleteUnless someone wants to put up a Match 2 Scores post.
Yes, it does seem that way.

BojBog goes lite in a blowout over Indy and post a 27 for a Swat total of 239, 55 points heavy over ETeam, awaiting Aldridge tonight.
ReplyDeleteI have Aldridge with 50, giving ETeam 235.
