  1. Thanks to Dave I'm back online here I had a higher score for the Swat victory in game 2 but I guess it's moot with no MHS or total points to consider. Let the best team win...I like Wingos mention of Alex Johnson another incredibly talented and troubled hitter

  2. Eric mentions one of my favorite mid-60's Giants Jim Ray Hart who had I think 31 homers his rookie year of 1964 and would've been rookie of the year if not for Allen also being a rookie that year. In 1964 it was a great year for my Giants offensively we had the following lineup Mays/McCovey/Cepeda/Felipe and Matty Alou and Hart.even Tom Haller the catcher could hit....that summer I listened to 32 innings of baseball all day and evening on a Sunday when the Giants and Mets played a doubleheader and the 2nd game went for 23 innings 7 hours and 23 minutes. Giants won when 3rd string catcher Del Crandall doubled in the top of the 23rd 8-6 Gaylord Perry in his first full season pitched 10 innings of shutout relief.Koufax broke his hand in August so he "only" won 19 games that year the Phillies went to their 3 man rotation in Septmeber and blew a big lead and the Cardinals won it behind Gibson/Boyer/Bill White/McCarver/etc.. A pitcher named Ray Sadecki won 20 for that team. 2 years later he would be traded for Ceapeda who lead the Cardinals to the 66 and 67 titles being MVP in the latter year Sadecki never won 10 in a season after that.Hart was the second worst drunk in team history during my formative years so who, it begs the question was the worst?. Someone so coveted that my Giants traded Gaylord Perry even up for him Sudden Sam McDowell who we thought would be the next Koufax

  3. The former Portland Beaver Sam McDowell. He and Luis Tiant and Lou Piniella all played in the Rose City for the Indian's AAA club during my youth, along with the ill-fated Ray Fosse.

  4. Just so it appears here:

    Westbrook 1 (Shroder)
    Drummond 5 (Zubac)
    Aldridge 4 (AaGord)
    Beal 3 (Barton)
    Markkanen 2 (Lamb)
    Nurkic 6 (Lowry)

It's in the lap of the Gods now. Woo hoo!

  6. I can't top Mark for Bay Area baseball history, but I did see my first few MLB games at Candlestick, when the outfield still opened out onto the bay. Caught a foul ball off the bat of the Pirate's Al Oliver at my first game (Ron Bryant was pitching). And once saw Willie Mays and Willie McCovey homer in the same game, although I'm sure Mark witnessed that on more than one occasion.
My great shame is that I never attended a Seattle Pilots game during their one glorious season. Hate myself for that.

  7. The E Team's three warhorses Westbrook, Drummond, and Beal go 44, 37 and 49 before clearing out their lockers for the season. Thank you, fellas. Job well done.

Swat's stellar sophomore DMitch answers the bell with a 40. Nothing wrong with that.

    Nobody's lying down yet.

  8. Eric we all relive that one Pilot season via Jim Bouton's Ball Four which chronicles that 1969 season.
