  2. Please remind Li'l Hawthorne -- does home field for #2 mean that #3 has to beat us two out of three (not that they won't)?

  3. The weak-willed Wingos go up against the emerging E Street shufflers with:
    1-Kemba (Fox)
    2-Bledsoe (Hardaway)
    3-Giannis (Butler)
    4-Tobias (Millsap)
    5-Boogie (JAllen)
    U-JCollins (Oubre)

  4. Yes the 3 and 4 seeds have to win two against us in this first round One win and our top 2 seeds advance to the final

  5. To clarify, for the newcomers or the especially aged among us:

Playoffs begin with tomorrow's games. In both the Big Dance (1 thru 4) and the NIT (5 thru 8), the top two seeds enjoy what we call the Double Jeopardy advantage. They win one match and advance to the final. The lower seeds must win two straight; they are one and done.

In the final round, the two winners in each tournament play a best-of-three for the championship. The losers play one match only for third or seventh place, whichever applies.

I see no early or late calls, nor any early starts tomorrow. Lineups due at 4 PM Pacific, tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 24.

Also, feel free to back up each of your starters with a strategically selected player from off your bench, as per rules adopted earlier this season. It works really well in protecting you from DNP's.

    Good luck, you filthy animals.

  6. And okay, yes, there is some additional reporting I must do, but only because Wingo, a kind and decorous man, forced my hand.

Like his Warriors, the Bay-based Invader has taken much of the drama out of things from the get-go with his historic season. Or that's how it seemed. Like anybody was gonna win two straight or even two of three from a guy that averages 225 fp's a match.

It certainly wasn't the E Team, which started the season 1-9.

But wait. Guess which team went 18-7 over the last 25, only two games off Mark's 20-5 record in the same stretch? Guess which team has led the circuit in scoring over the last 10 at 220.9? And guess who enters the playoffs with three straight MHS, going 240-plus for four consecutive matches?

Sounds like a team that could truly contend with the mighty Invaders. Here's the problem for the E Team: all that could go away with one loss to the defending champion Wingo, a 200-plus scorer that tends to put up a solid number consistently.

Wingo need only play .500 basketball for two games, something he managed to do all season, and the league's hottest team is done.

Meanwhile, let's not write off the Swat Team, which faces the Invaders in the first round. Here's another 200-plus scorer that hasn't been under 200 since Match 27 and his three straight 220-plus matches going.

And then there's matter of Ticket's supernatural quest for the NIT title. Don't think there is anything left to say about that. No offense to you others, but go Tom go!

Best of luck to all. The League Office

  11. Wingos note that E-Team is starting Markkanen at the 2 when he is only eligible at the 4. Unless this is changed before 4:00 today it will be Will Barton at the 2...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Invaders will play Griffin/Okafor...Bagley/Sabonis...Derozan/Galinari...Harden/Wiggins...Russell/Williams...Kanter/Clarkson.....no Embiid so Swat can certainly take advantage here..Griffin at 5 is weird but Yahoo believes it

  13. Hawthorne Beal is obviously the 2 and Markanen a 3 he swapped them by mistake I believe if you check the rosters Markanen is a 3-4 and eligible to play 3... since he has a 2 in there and a 3 even if they're mislabeled I would think the real intention is clear

    ReplyDelete
  14. Invaders move Williams to 6 Clarkson to backup Russell Kanter to backup Griff and Okafor to backup Williams so 5/4/3/2/1/6 it will be Griff/Kanter...Bagley/Sabonis...Derozan/Gallinari...Harden/Wiggins...Russell/Clarkson and Williams/Okafor at 6

  15. Holy cow, Lavine drops a fantasy 52 on Saturday and looks like the only viable option in Chicago and he is backing up Dam.

Mitchell's coming on, and my TraeYo is blowing up, yet my team Albatross around my neck is my Celtics homer pick Tatum at the 3, who has seriously underperformed this year.

Unfortunately Lavine is 1/2, Mitchell is 1/2, and TreaYo is 1.

Damian on the road vs Cleveland, I should feel good about that, right?

    THE HORRA!!!

  16. We are using yahoo and Markkanen is just a 4. Has e's resurgence been fueled by scandal? Wingos do not agree to letting E violate this integral position rule.

  17. Wingos just texted E, given the time urgency. Markkanen is only a 4. E needs to post a lineup that qualifies, not explain how his could if he did it different. If not timely filed Wingos officially protest/object and do not believe that E should get the "benefit" of trying to now do what he has been fighting Dave and Li'l H about all season...

  18. Yes Sean you know I felt the same way about Kanter as your Lillard as maybe getting too much rest...I was sure Kanter would be a good 6 thinking at first he would play more at Cleveland but then I started thinking if it's a blowout Leonard would get the minutes I believe there's a good chance for a Love back to Portland deal and Leonard and Turner are on the last year of their overpriced contracts next year which might offset the need to include either Nurkic or McCullum along with other assets and picks

  19. I don't have access to Yahoo positions Hawrhorne I was going by what was listed below on rosters which certainly could be wrong I think my Russell is actually 1-2 on ESPN so likely the same on Yahoo for example but below he is only pg

  20. Markkanen is 4 on Yahoo

    Russell is 1-2 on Yahoo

  21. Hey Mark,

Your William's is of the Sweet Lou variety, correct?

  22. Jesus. Everybody back in the clown car.

This is the Yahoo player rater we used at the beginning of the season. I've probably had Markannen in my lineup 10 times this year as a two while moving Beal to the three. Look it up. I'm sure he's on that sheet of butcher paper we used at Sam's Billiards as a 2/4.

    Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lou Williams yes Sean Markanen as a 2-4? sounds like Simmons a 1-4

    1. His current Yahoo Fantasy designation is just 4. I do know if a player doesn't get used at a position at least five times in a season, it can lose that position from the draft designation it had.

  24. Holy... Invaders' Harden goes all tame with a 38, while Swat gets a 62 from KAT and is projecting very strongly for an upset win in Match 1.

Good lord. Are the mighty Invaders going to face elimination?!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I looked up Markanen on that yahoo address and it was 2/4 I can't recall him ever being a 2 this year Yahoo only requires 5 games at a position to add it while ESPN requires 10 games so last year he was a 6-10 2 guard? It's looking bad for injured Invaders this match

  27. Mark, I listed Markkanen as a 2/4 on my original roster on hoopssocial back in October, because that's where Yahoo had him at the time of our draft and part of why I picked him. I've played him at the 2 or as a backup to the 2 a dozen times or more this season. It's all a matter of record. Anybody can look it up. E
